Seeking a senior executive to lead its title insurance subsidiary, with full responsibility for underwriting, risk, and operations. Reporting to the COO / Head of Financial Services, this leader will strengthen risk discipline, manage the policy portfolio, and build a high-quality agency network.
The ideal candidate has proven experience leading risk within a title insurance underwriter and will establish KPI and forecasting discipline to support scalable growth. This executive will also have full authority to build and shape the leadership team for the company’s next phase.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of risk management across the title insurance subsidiary’s underwriting operations, with enforced, disciplined risk controls.
- Rigorously evaluate incoming deal and policy flow to protect the quality of the book of business.
- Actively manage the policy portfolio and build a strong, well-vetted network of agency relationships.
- Build and install KPI and forecasting discipline for the sales and production organization.
- Own full operational and P&L leadership for the title insurance subsidiary, reporting to the company’s Head of Financial Services.
- Build and shape the leadership team, bringing in the right talent across risk, sales, and operations.
- Prepare the organization for rapid growth as the parent company consolidates all title business under this platform (12,000+ annual home transactions, plus land transactions, with all title volume moving onto the platform).
- Partner with the Head of Financial Services on strategy for the title business, with a defined path to President and CEO based on performance.
Qualifications
- Proven, hands-on experience managing risk inside a title insurance underwriting business. Real operating experience identifying and cutting toxic risk before it becomes exposure, not a theoretical or advisory background.
- Direct experience partnering with or overseeing a sales or production function, including building KPI and forecasting discipline where none previously existed.
- Track record of professionalizing or turning around an underperforming risk, underwriting, or operations function, including managing out bad policies and agency relationships.
- Executive leadership experience with real P&L ownership; comfortable stepping into an organization with acknowledged gaps and building a team from a position of authority.
- Career built on the underwriter side of the title insurance industry (e.g., a national underwriter such as Fidelity National Title, Stewart Title, Old Republic Title, or First American Title), not primarily within an independent agency.
- Comfortable with a growth-path title structure. This is a President and CEO track role for the right person, not a lateral executive move.
