The Chief Operating Officer will serve as the CEO’s primary operational partner, owning day-to-day execution and building the structure, accountability, processes, technology, and analytics needed to scale the business. This is a hands-on leadership role with a long-term path to President.
Key Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day operations and internal execution, allowing the CEO to focus on vision and strategy.
- Translate strategic priorities into operational plans, processes, and measurable results.
- Build structure, accountability, KPIs, reporting, and analytics across the organization.
- Oversee key operational functions, including processing, underwriting, closing, post-closing, sales, and other core business functions.
- Identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and organizational gaps and implement practical, scalable solutions.
- Establish clear goals, performance expectations, and accountability across departments.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration and operational consistency.
- Develop and mentor existing leaders while strengthening the overall management team.
- Use data and business performance metrics to identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement.
- Serve as a hands-on, resourceful problem solver in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
- Partner with the CEO on execution of broader strategic priorities and long-term growth initiatives.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive operational leadership experience.
- Leadership experience within the mortgage industry is required.
- Direct-to-consumer mortgage lending experience is a plus, but not required.
- Proven success scaling operations in a growing or entrepreneurial organization.
- Strong technology leadership experience—directly working with or managing tech teams and personally owning software decisions, implementations, migrations, or integrations from evaluation through execution
- Believes software and technology can be used to solve business problems and improve operations.
- Technologically curious and hands-on; understands and/or uses modern AI tools such as Claude Code.
- Strong analytical, business, and financial acumen.
- Hands-on, entrepreneurial mindset with high ownership and resourcefulness.
