The Chief Credit Officer will lead all aspects of credit strategy, policy, and risk management across the platform. This is not a traditional underwriting management role. The focus is on building and institutionalizing credit policy, defining risk frameworks, and establishing the foundation required for future securitizations. The role will partner closely with Capital Markets to ensure credit strategy aligns with execution, investor expectations, and long-term portfolio performance. This position is central to preparing the platform for securitizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and define credit strategy across RTL and DSCR products
- Design, implement, and continuously refine credit policies and underwriting guidelines
- Lead development of RTL credit guidelines, including borrower segmentation, experience tiers, and deal structuring
- Establish QA, risk management, and portfolio surveillance frameworks
- Build stratification and reporting standards required for institutional investors and securitization markets
- Partner with Capital Markets to align credit policy with execution and exit strategy
- Support securitization readiness, including diligence preparation, TPR interaction, and loan-level data integrity
- Develop exception frameworks and risk tolerances aligned with portfolio performance goals
- Identify early warning indicators and proactively implement risk mitigation strategies
- Evaluate market-level and macroeconomic risks and adjust credit policy accordingly
- Serve as the senior credit voice in the organization, providing an independent perspective and disciplined decision-making
Qualifications
- 10–15+ years of experience in residential credit, with a focus on RTL / bridge lending
- Strong experience developing and implementing credit guidelines and policies
- Exposure to securitization processes, including diligence, TPR interaction, or loan-level review
- Deep understanding of credit risk, portfolio construction, and loan performance drivers
- Experience working closely with Capital Markets or investment teams
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking capability
