The Collateral Manager will lead appraisal operations, overseeing the ordering, review, and approval of appraisals while managing a growing team. This individual will supervise appraisal coordinators and future appraisal underwriters, ensuring high-quality execution, process consistency, and strong communication with appraisers and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead appraisal operations, including ordering, tracking, and delivery of appraisals
  • Manage and mentor a team of appraisal coordinators, with future oversight of appraisal underwriters
  • Review appraisal reports for quality, completeness, and adherence to guidelines
  • Communicate directly with appraisers to resolve questions, revisions, and discrepancies
  • Establish and refine appraisal review and approval processes
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements
  • Partner with underwriting, credit, and production teams to support loan flow
  • Drive operational efficiencies, turnaround time improvements, and service quality metrics
  • Build scalable infrastructure to support team and volume growth

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in appraisal operations, collateral management, or mortgage lending
  • Strong understanding of appraisal processes and valuation workflows from a lender perspective
  • Prior experience managing or mentoring teams preferred
  • Process-oriented with a focus on efficiency, quality control, and scalability
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in working with third-party appraisers
  • Ability to balance quality, speed, and service in a high-volume environment
  • Not required to be a licensed appraiser
